Lakshmi kubera Homam:

lakshmi kubera homam chennai

Kubera (also Kuvera or Kuber) is the king of the Yakshas and the lord of wealth in Hindu mythology. He is also known as Dhanapati, the lord of riches. He is one of the Guardians of the directions , representing the Uttara-disha, meaning north of 4 directions in Sanskrit.Kubera is also the son of Sage Vishrava (hence he is also called Vaisravana) and in this respect, he is also the elder brother of the Lord of Lanka, Ravana . He is said to have performed austerities for a thousand years, in reward for which Brahma, the Creator, gave him immortality and made him god of wealth, guardian of all the treasures of the earth, the nidhi which he was to give out to whom they were destined. When Brahma appointed him God of Riches, he gave him Lanka (Ceylon) as his capital, and presented him, according to the Ramayana, with the vehicle pushpaka, which was of immense size and ‘moved at the owner’s will at marvellous speed’. When Ravana captured Lanka, Kubera moved to his city of Alaka, and established his Yaksha Kingdom there.

Lakshmi  is the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity, light, wisdom, fortune, fertility, generosity and courage; and the embodiment of beauty, grace and charm. She is believed to protect her devotees from all kinds of misery and money-related sorrows. Representations of Lakshmi (or Shri) are found also in Jain monuments.Lakshmi in Sanskrit is derived from its elemental form lakS, meaning "to perceive or observe".This is synonymous with lakṣya, meaning "aim" or "objective". Lakshmi is thus goddess of the means to achieving objectives, including prosperity in the lives of humankind. She is the consort of Vishnu[ and married Rama (in her incarnation as Sita) and Krishna (as Radha and later Rukmini).

Lakshmi-Kubera Homam is performed for the purpose of gaining legitimate wealth. Those who are involved in business or are facing financial problems may perform this Homam to receive the blessings and grace of Goddess Lakshmi. The yantra (a symbol embedded in metal) used in the Homa, will invoke riches dispelling any curse or obstacle in obtaining the same.

  • It is performed for faster recovery of dues.
  • It is performed to please the adhipathi (king) of wealth and prosperity.

Lord Kubera is the leader of the Yakshas; demigods who help mankind procure wealth and happiness. They are devotees of Lord Shiva and constantly plead with the Lord for the betterment of mankind. For his devotion, Kubera was rewarded by Lord Shiva with the responsibility of guarding the northern direction and Goddess Lakshmi made him the Lord of Wealth and Material. Lord Kubera also finds place in Buddhism as Vaisravana.Lord Balaji at Tirupati is believed to have borrowed a hefty amount from Lord Kubera for His marriage and He continues to pay only the interest on the loan amount till date.
